The
Vice President, Risk Asset Unit
provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Association’s high‑risk asset management, portfolio risk monitoring, and problem asset administration functions. This role leads a team focused on serving financially stressed borrower relationships, preserving portfolio quality, minimizing credit losses, and supporting sound risk management practices that protect Association capital and advance the Farm Credit mission.

What You Will Contribute- Lead and develop the Risk Asset Unit by coaching, mentoring, and managing team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic oversight of distressed, delinquent, and high‑risk borrower relationships, including workout strategies, restructures, collections, recovery efforts, bankruptcies, foreclosures, and litigation matters.
- Monitor portfolio quality and emerging credit risks by analyzing delinquency trends, classified assets, non-accrual loans, and other indicators of credit deterioration while recommending risk mitigation strategies.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership by providing insights on portfolio performance, adverse asset trends, regulatory matters, and credit risk management priorities.
- Provide advanced credit expertise and coaching on complex transactions, underwriting strategies, risk ratings, loan structures, collateral evaluation, loan servicing plans, and troubled credit administration.
- Lead reporting, analytics, and compliance activities by overseeing portfolio risk reporting, regulatory examinations, audit responses, policy development, and credit administration standards.
- Drive strategic initiatives and process improvements that strengthen risk identification, borrower rehabilitation, recovery efforts, portfolio performance, governance, and data‑driven decision making.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of business development, credit extension, credit administration, portfolio management, and risk management practices.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to recruit, develop, coach, motivate, and lead high‑performing teams.
- Strategic thinking and analytical abilities to evaluate complex business and credit issues, identify key risks, and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with the ability to leverage data, exercise sound judgment, and balance strategic priorities with organizational objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, or agriculture.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in agribusiness, credit analysis, or sales.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience leading and developing teams.
