Overview
Provides care to adults with behavioral, emotional, or mental health problems.
Qualifications- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Certification & Licensure: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Basic computer skills:
Word, Excel, email, and web browser. - Critical thinking and independent judgment in decision making.
- Assist the interdisciplinary treatment team in patient assessment and the development and implementation of individualized, goal‑directed treatment plans.
- Obtain pertinent information from referral sources and assist in facilitating admissions.
- Complete admission assessments (excluding nursing components).
- Ensure compliance with legal components of admissions (voluntary/involuntary admissions, patients’ rights, obtaining releases of information, 5‑day request for release).
- Maintain knowledge of advanced directives.
- Administer and score assessment scales per protocol.
- Participate in interdisciplinary clinical staffing and provide pertinent information to the team.
- Develop, review, and revise plans of care for assigned patients.
- Complete required documentation, including assessment scales.
- Address patients’ strengths, impairments, and interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected outcomes.
- Provide group and individual therapies as assigned to deliver comprehensive, quality treatment.
- Facilitate individual therapy sessions, structured therapy groups, and psycho educational groups in accordance with the patient’s plan of care.
- Utilize a variety of therapeutic models (primarily brief therapy/cognitive behavioral therapy focus).
- Ensure the milieu maintains a therapeutic environment.
- Incorporate recovery principles in all therapeutic interventions.
- Document interventions succinctly and goal‑directed using DAIR format.
- Recognize and report abuse/neglect situations as required by law.
- Support, set limits, and facilitate learning from situational 1:1 interventions.
- Adhere to group rules and schedule groups to start and end on time.
- Follow group content outlines and individualize groups to the needs of the current patient population.
- Engage patients to participate in community meetings as appropriate.
- Interact with parents/significant others to answer programming questions, patient progress, and more.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of a therapeutic milieu that is safe, caring, nurturing, healing, and educational.
- Set behavioral limits on patients according to unit policies, individual plans of care, and behavior modification plans.
- De‑escalate patients using CPI techniques.
- Participate in the application of seclusion/restraints when appropriate; monitor, document, and complete restriction of rights forms.
- Provide supportive care to patients and families.
- Conduct safety rounds.
- Assist patients in conflict resolution.
- Model stress management.
- Ensure patient safety by following policies, procedures, and unit protocols and national patient safety goals.
- Assist in performance improvement activities on unit.
- Actively promote and achieve customer satisfaction for patients, families, departments, and physicians.
- Generate ideas to improve processes, treatment, and patient care.
- Participate in root‑cause analyses and assist in the development and implementation of action plans.
- Serve on unit‑based committees.
- Precept new employees.
- Follow through on assignments from the nurse manager or unit committees.
- Volunteer for assignments designed to affect needed changes.

Compensationand Benefits
