Overview

This position is responsible for the safe transportation of patients, specimens, supplies, medication, film, records, equipment and miscellaneous items.

Uses word processing, spreadsheet, e‑mail application, and web browser; comfortable within a Windows OS and learning new applications.

Responsibilities

Displays an understanding of general specimen collection guidelines:

  • Collects urinalysis samples per federal protocol, using universal precautions (gloves, etc).
  • Packages samples for mailing via Fed Ex; calls Fed Ex to arrange for pickup.
  • Recognizes a sample that is not acceptable for testing.
  • Refers to other staff or manual for correct collection and handling protocol.
  • Processes samples as directed by procedure or protocol.
  • Treats each patient with respect and dignity during the collection process.
  • Labels samples as per policy.
  • Verifies patient identity prior to collection a specimen.
  • Notifies appropriate chain when a sample is not obtained or not acceptable for testing.
  • Monitors supplies and notifies supervisor when supplies are getting low.

Maintains documentation in compliance with organizational standards, Federal Probation requirements, Mental Health Codes, and licensure requirements that is complete, accurate, and timely.

  • Completes the sign in logs, chain of custody lab forms, and non‑billable notes if something out of the ordinary happens.
  • Notifies Federal Probation staff at the end of the day of the individuals who failed to show up for each collection day.
  • Accurately completes filing in charts as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $16.39 per hour - $26.55 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
