Job Description

The Physical Therapist’s role is to provide evaluation and direct intervention to clients with physical disabilities and delays. The physical therapist will provide clinical expertise and leadership to the multi-disciplinary team; to assist in maintaining quality communication and operations, and to provide quality care to clients receiving physical therapy services. She will also assist in championing outreach to clients and potential referral sources in the greater Central Illinois area.

This position reports directly to the Director of Rehabilitation Services.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Evaluates and treats clients with a wide variety of needs.
  • Utilizes the parent’s priorities for treatment to establish measurable and functional goals
  • Consults to administrative staff on best practices and current efficacy based treatment methodologies for physical therapists
  • Assists families in obtaining necessary equipment for mobilization or ambulation as needed through composing letters of medical necessity, and coordinating with physician and vendors
  • Assist Director of Rehabilitation in client and staff recruitment, provider outreach and general marketing efforts for the Rehab program and Skill Sprout as a whole
  • Develops and implements trainings for rehabilitation staff as needed to support internal referrals and trans-disciplinary care
  • Provides effective home exercise programming and parent education as needed
  • Utilizes principles of positive reinforcement and basic behavioral interventions to support client performance and learning.
  • Acts as mentor to therapists who are new to the field and/or pediatrics within the company
  • Collaborate with Director of Rehabilitation to develop new programs for developing programming related to physical therapy for the company.
  • Consult with other clinicians inside and outside of Skill Sprout to enhance continuity of care for clients regularly and as needed
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned and agreed upon
Qualifications

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with expertise in pediatrics and development of gross motor skills to enhance a proven program with the addition of physical therapy as a new service line; and to mentor therapists new to the field. The successful candidate will deliver professional and clinical expertise and work collaboratively with a high-performance management team.

The Physical Therapist will have the following experience and attributes:

  • Minimum of a Masters degree in Physical Therapy
  • Certification and Illinois State licensure as a Physical Therapist in good standing
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children with developmental delays
  • Superior understanding of typical childhood development as it relates to gross motor skills and ambulation
  • Evaluator level provider credential for the Illinois Early Intervention System (or eligibility for this credential)
  • Proficient in using technology as communication and reporting tool
  • Strong personnel management skills with a high degree of self-initiation
  • Experience having worked with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details
  • Personal and professional qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Skill Sprout’s mission
