Pay range for this position is $31.67 - $47.47/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure. This is a Salaried position.
OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY: The Faith Community Nurse is responsible for establishing, implementing, and coordinating the development of faith based nursing programs in the community. In doing so, provides a link between faith based organizations and the OSF Healthcare Faith Community Nurse Program. According to established protocols, works in collaboration with the Leaders of the congregations and the volunteer Faith Community Nurses assigned to the congregation to meet the health counseling, spiritual, and unique needs of each particular congregation.
Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of education and support for the volunteer Faith Community Nurse. Responsible for following and promulgating the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services within the department. Works closely with Mission Partners within the organization and members of various congregational and community agencies to improve the health status of the community. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing education institution.
- Licensed by the State of Illinois in good standing and have a minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical setting.
- Adhere to the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Faith Community Nursing.
- Substantial interpersonal skills to lead and direct the efforts of a group of professional and nonprofessional staff and to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships at all levels.
- Ability to effectively communicate objectives and develop/present/coordinate educational and training opportunities to community members and congregation nurse.
- Strong understanding of all faith based and community resources and ability to coordinate services to increase health education and outcomes.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exhibit strong time management skills.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to conduct formal educational programs for clients and maintain effective contacts with congregations, Faith Community Nurses, health care system personnel and resources.
- Analytical skills necessary in order to problem solve, organize, direct and evaluate health care given to clients within the congregation, develop and evaluate client and congregational education programs and for clinical documentation.
- Strong computer skills and experience with online documentation and Microsoft Office programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Faith Community Nurse Certification
- 2 years’ experience coordinating or managing volunteers
