Expected pay for this position is $25.10 - $29.54/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.
OverviewExciting opportunity to join the OSF Care‑A‑Van Program. As a Community Health Specialist, you will operate and set up the OSF Mobile Health Unit throughout the greater region to help deliver essential care to the communities we serve.
The OSF Care‑A‑Van is a mobile health center staffed by dedicated members of OSF Health Care and the Faith Community Nursing program. In this role, you will also provide vital administrative support to our clinical team, helping ensure smooth operations and exceptional patient service.
Class C Driver's license is required.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Health Specialist works to improve the health status of the community through supporting care for the whole person. The Community Health Specialist works with community organizations, faith‑based organizations and key stakeholders to promote awareness and engagement in OSF Health Care (OSF) community outreach initiatives; as well as assisting in coordination, implementation and awareness of outreach initiatives. This position is also responsible for operations of the mobile health unit.
This is a part‑time position.
QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, healthcare, social services, community development or a related field
Experience:
- Two years' experience in the healthcare, social services or community development.
- Maintains acceptable driving record as set forth by OSF Automotive Services Driver Criteria.
Licensure/ Certification:
Current and appropriate State Driver's License. Class C – non‑CDL Driver's license obtained upon start date.
Other Skills/ Knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Master’s degree
Experience:
Past experience driving a large vehicle or operating large machinery.
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS, Advance care planning or related training
