Position: Clinical Assistant / Orthotic Fitter (Entry-Level) – Peoria, IL

The Certified Orthotic Fitter (CFo) provides patient-centered orthotic care through the assessment, fitting, adjustment, and delivery of prefabricated orthoses, off-the-shelf orthotics, and soft-goods orthotic devices in accordance with American Board for Certification (ABC) scope of practice standards. This clinical role supports lower extremity and upper extremity orthotic fitting, durable medical equipment (DME) delivery, biomechanics-based device selection, patient education, and compliant clinical documentation.

Working within an interdisciplinary healthcare clinic environment, the CFo collaborates with Certified Prosthetists/Orthotists, physicians, therapists, and patient services teams to ensure safe, effective mobility solutions. Responsibilities include orthotic device adjustment, Medicare-compliant documentation, HIPAA-compliant patient communication, and follow-up care within certification scope.

This position is ideal for a clinically precise, detail-oriented professional who values hands-on patient interaction, structured clinical standards, and team-based rehabilitation services.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Fit, deliver, and adjust prefabricated, off-the-shelf, and soft-goods orthoses within ABC scope of practice standards.
  • Assist supervising practitioners with patient evaluations and implementation of orthotic treatment plans.
  • Measure, modify, and troubleshoot orthotic devices to ensure optimal biomechanical function, fit, and patient comfort.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on device wear schedules, care instructions, and realistic treatment expectations.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and timely in compliance with Medicare, HIPAA, and company documentation standards.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up support within certification scope to address basic device-related concerns.
  • Support clinic operations including device ordering coordination, supply management, and inventory tracking.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and regulatory-compliant clinical environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams to promote positive patient outcomes.

All duties are performed within the limitations imposed by certification standards and applicable federal, state, and local law.

Required Qualifications
  • Current American Board for Certification (ABC) Certified Orthotic Fitter (CFo) credential.
  • Working knowledge of orthotic principles, biomechanics, and soft-goods fitting techniques.
  • Strong understanding of prefabricated orthoses and DME fitting protocols.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, caregivers, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to manage documentation workflows in a regulated healthcare setting.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a team-based clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Experience working in a prosthetics and orthotics clinic or rehabilitation setting.
  • Familiarity with Medicare documentation standards and reimbursement processes.
  • Prior experience supporting interdisciplinary physician referral relationships.
Compensation:

$45,760 – $54,080 annually, commensurate with experience, clinical proficiency, and demonstrated competency.
