Description:
The Radiation Therapist will assist with the daily patient flow of the Radiation Oncology clinical location.
They will evaluate and develop new processes for patient care.
The therapist will assist with other activities to improve Radiation Oncology operations.
According to established procedures, they will assist physicians by treating patients with prescribed doses of ionizing radiation.
Treatment will be supplied and controlled through specialized radiation equipment.
In doing so, the therapist prepares the treatment room and explains procedures to patients.
They will position patients and administer treatments.
Monitoring patients during therapy sessions is essential to ensure comfort and observe any changes in their condition.
The therapist will simulate patient treatment according to the treatment plan.
They will deliver prescribed doses of ionizing radiation using specialized radiation equipment.
Designing and constructing custom treatment devices for individual patients is part of the role.
The therapist must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
Interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, allied health personnel, and other staff.
They will explain procedures and gather as well as exchange patient-related information.
Analytical skills are essential to provide accurate care instructions to patients.
The therapist must interpret physicians’ prescriptions for treatment courses and effectively duplicate treatment plans.
