- Assist Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses in providing patient care and performing unit maintenance activities
- Perform delegated patient care activities, including hygiene, nutrition, elimination, skin care, comfort, activity, and patient measurements
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Make rounds at least every two hours to ensure patient comfort, positioning, call light availability, and room orderliness
- Answer call lights promptly and report pertinent patient information to the assigned nurse
- Complete documentation before leaving the shift
- Perform unit maintenance duties, errands, cleaning, stocking, equipment removal, and supply charging
- Maintain a neat and safe patient environment
- Assist with patient lifting, transfers, mobility, and use of lift equipment
- Follow patient, environmental, and personal safety procedures, including hand hygiene and protective equipment use
- Collaborate with nursing staff and hospital personnel to support patient and employee satisfaction
- Attend educational offerings and maintain current patient-care knowledge
- Support quality assurance and infection-control initiatives
- Provide respectful, timely assistance to patients, families, peers, and hospital personnel
- High school diploma/GED required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 3 months
- Perform patient care procedures according to applicable policies and procedures
- Complete additional skills after training and certification as directed and supervised by a nurse
- Ability to assist with patient lifting, transfers, ambulation, and mobility equipment
- Ability to follow patient safety, infection-control, hand-hygiene, and protective-equipment procedures
- Ability to organize and prioritize work as directed by nursing staff
- Ability to complete assigned work within the shift and use supplies and resources productively
- Ability to communicate pertinent patient information to nurses and collaborate with staff
- Ability to work required evening schedule, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.
- Must work at least one weekend shift per schedule
- Must work one summer and one winter holiday
Demonstrates proficiency in patient care procedures, including hygiene, mobility assistance, and safety protocols, while effectively collaborating with nursing staff to enhance patient satisfaction and care quality.
