About the Role

The Billing Coordinator will lead EP!

C’s billing operations, including generating claims, creating invoices, posting and coding payments, managing denials, and supporting collections. This role is essential to maximizing claim collectability through accurate and timely billing, obtaining prior authorizations for select Behavioral Health services, and promptly resolving denied or rejected claims. The Billing Coordinator will also support EP!

C’s credentialing and contracting efforts with new insurance providers and other payers. This position works closely with the Accounting and Behavioral Health teams to ensure billing activities are timely, accurate, compliant, and aligned with payer requirements and organizational policies.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, ethical, and knowledgeable about healthcare billing practices and payer requirements in the state of Illinois. This individual should be comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Generate and submit claims and post invoices on a weekly to monthly basis.
  • Receive, code, and post payments, including EFTs, paper checks, and other payment types.
  • Maintain current knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, medical billing terminology, payer requirements, and applicable Illinois billing regulations.
  • Assist with credentialing and contracting EP!

    C with new insurance providers and other payers.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for applicable services.
  • Respond to and resolve patient billing questions, inquiries, and complaints professionally and promptly.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Manager and other team members to support accurate and timely staff documentation and billing notes.
  • Follow all HIPAA, confidentiality, compliance, and organizational requirements.
  • Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate.
  • 4+ years of experience in healthcare billing, invoicing, and collections
    , preferably within the state of Illinois.
  • Experience generating, submitting, and managing healthcare claims and payments through an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
    .
  • Experience obtaining prior authorizations/pre-authorizations for healthcare services.
  • Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes and medical billing terminology.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare billing, claims processing, payment posting, denials, and collections.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    , including pivot tables, filtering, sorting, and basic data transformation.
PREFERRED
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing, Revenue Cycle Management, Accounting, Credentialing, or a related field.
  • Healthcare billing or coding certification.
  • Experience with insurance credentialing and payer contracting in Illinois
    .
  • Experience with insurance enrollment and provider credentialing.
  • Experience in Behavioral Health
    , human services, or community-based healthcare.
  • Experience managing denials, appeals, rebilling, and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Experience training or mentoring billing staff.
  • Knowledge of Illinois-specific payer requirements and regulations.
