Monday through Friday varied, requiring some after-school hours and later days each week to support pediatric population. Hybrid flexibility. Pay Range: $54.90 - $82.35
This Pediatric Psychologist position provides clinical care for children, adolescents, and families coping with acute and chronic medical conditions, with a primary focus on integrated support within specialty medical clinics and brief outpatient therapy. The psychologist will partner with a multidisciplinary team (subspecialty medical providers, rehabilitation therapists, social workers, etc.) to provide assessment, consultation, health behavior intervention, patient and family education, and care coordination for medically complex pediatric populations.
Current clinic needs may include support for programs such as Cystic Fibrosis, severe persistent asthma, cochlear implant evaluations, and POST clinic, along with brief therapy for patients stepping down from hospitalization or needing targeted support related to medical diagnosis, treatment adjustment, adherence, coping, or family functioning. This role requires a broadly trained pediatric psychologist who is comfortable working across medical specialties;
as the program grows, there may be increasing opportunities for subspecialty development.
- 1) Provides clinic-based psychological support and consultation to interdisciplinary medical teams, including assistance with patient/family needs, behavioral health concerns, treatment planning, and care coordination within specialty clinic settings.
- 2) Provides diagnostic consultative services as ordered by the physician.
- 3) Assess patient's and the patient family's level of understanding and motivation and level of compliance to engage in treatment according to plan, including their expected roles in the treatment process and makes appropriate changes in treatment plan as needed.
- 4) Educates patient and family (where appropriate) regarding the nature of the patient's illness, it's expected course, treatment of illness and alternative treatments.
- 5) Develops strategies where appropriate to assist families and other health care providers in management of the patient's behaviors and illness.
- 6) Counseling and Psychotherapy:
Conducts assessment according to established clinical protocol, formulates case conceptualization (i. e. diagnostic impression of presenting problem), establishes psychiatric diagnosis according to DSM criteria, recommends appropriate treatment plan and documents according to established department procedures and hospital policies. - 7) Provides psychotherapy on an individual, family and/or group basis following acceptable clinical guidelines for specific clinical disorders.
- 8) Formulates goal-oriented treatment plan with expected outcomes in collaboration with the patient and family where appropriate.
- 9) Develops plan to incorporate community-based resources as appropriate.
- 1) Designs clinical programs as appropriate and as assigned or approved by the Director.
- 2) Evaluates program performance in terms of process and outcome.
- 3) Works collaboratively with other staff and professional on projects of this nature.
- 4) May coordinate the clinical activities of staff, providing clinical supervision as appropriate and assigned by the director.
- 5) Provides the Director with regular reports. regarding all aspects of program development and evaluation.
