About

The Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) is hiring an Organizing Director for the 2026 Coordinated Campaign. This is a historic election cycle, with the Governorship, U.S. Senate, and 17 Congressional seats at stake, along with the State Senate, State House, and critical county and local-level races across the state. DPI is building a first-of-its-kind coordinated effort to meet this challenge and win competitive races up and down the ballot.

The Organizing Director is a critical member of the senior leadership team, and will develop and lead the statewide voter contact program. This is a full-time, in-person position located in Chicago, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a large statewide organizing team in a fast-paced, high-pressure campaign environment
  • Hire, train, and manage organizing staff, coaching organizing managers and maintaining a comprehensive training and development program
  • Design and implement systems, structures, and goal ramp to drive organizing performance and set, track, and exceed metric goals and benchmarks
  • Collaborate closely with headquarters departments to align strategy, streamline operations, and build effective support structures for the organizing team
  • Represent DPI in coordinated tables and build and maintain political relationships with candidates, partners, and stakeholders
  • Develop and execute an integrated organizing strategy and Get Out the Vote operation

Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 cycles of electoral organizing experience, with at least one as a Director or statewide Deputy
  • Fluency in VAN and other organizing tools and platforms
  • Experience managing staff across multiple levels, including managers and unionized teams
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proven commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture
  • Must have a cell phone, reliable laptop, valid driver’s license, and vehicle

The salary for this position is $8,500 per month. The position concludes on November 15, 2026, with the opportunity for continued growth after the election cycle. Additional benefits include PTO, paid parental leave, and paid sick leave.
