WMBD (CBS), WYZZ(FOX), and WMBD+ in Peoria, IL, has an immediate opening for a highly motivated Director of Sales with a proven track record of success.

This new opportunity in Peoria, known as the River City, will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with other Department Heads to consistently deliver on the station’s strategic goals for growth. We are seeking an energetic, positive, and creative leader to build on the success of our Digital and Linear Sales Team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, strong business acumen, and a high sense of urgency.

You must also have exceptional interpersonal skills and be highly visible both inside the station and in the community. As Director of Sales, you will be responsible for achieving all revenue goals by developing a comprehensive plan, effectively communicating it across the team, and driving execution with focus and accountability. Full-funnel sales and marketing expertise is essential.

  • Being a Leader of the Sales Team and owning the position
  • Driving new business development and being seen in the community.
  • Managing inventory, rates, political sales processes and revenue forecasting
  • Developing and executing sales packages and projects to increase stations’ revenue
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Local & National clients and advertising agencies
  • Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly financial reporting
  • Preparing revenue budgets and monitoring expense budgets
  • Making decisions regarding hiring, training, evaluation, promotion & termination of employees
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
  • Minimum five years’ experience in Television Station Management is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Experience guiding, directing and motivating others, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
  • Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Wide Orbit and Matrix
  • Pay range: $125,000-$150,000
