What you’ll doAs the Transportation Engineering Lead, you will be a pivotal figure within our organization by contributing to the strategic leadership of the company. Your primary responsibility will be to continuously build and improve transportation engineering opportunities, shaping and executing strategic initiatives necessary for driving growth and stability within the transportation team.
- Develop transportation strategy by collaborating with the executive team to outline and execute the firm’s transportation plan.
- Lead the development of comprehensive strategies for advancing transportation projects and services.
- Accountable for client engagement and relationship building, establishing strong relationships with local agencies and potential target clients.
- Serve as liaison between clients, the organization, and regulatory bodies like the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to advance projects.
- Lead project management, overseeing execution to meet client expectations, industry standards, and internal quality benchmarks.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop the transportation design team.
- Perform financial oversight by monitoring project budgets, resources, and financial performance.
- Contribute to financial planning for the transportation department and assess project feasibility.
- Act as primary contact for transportation projects, facilitating clear communication between all stakeholders.
- Develop new clients and maintain existing ones by building personal working relationships with key decision‑makers.
- Maintain a high‑level understanding of transportation engineering technology trends and advancements.
- Attend meetings, community, and industry events.
- Follow and research industry trends and share knowledge with the team.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Abide by Fehr Graham core values and work daily toward the mission.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
