What You’ll Do:
- Lead daily melt shop operations, including melting, refining, and casting.
- Manage a high-performing team (8 direct reports and 60 hourly employees) focused on safety, production targets, and equipment reliability.
- Drive continuous improvement in process efficiency, resource utilization, and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with leadership to align production goals with customer demand and service expectations.
- 10+ years of experience in melting, casting, and refining operations, with a strong background in Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) operations or LMS experience —preferably high‑density MIDI (HDMI).
- Proven leadership experience managing EAF furnace teams, with an emphasis on furnace balancing, energy optimization, and slag management.
- Knowledge of furnace refractory systems, electrode control, charge material optimization, tap‑to‑tap time reduction, and ladle metallurgy.
- Experience working with SCADA, PLCs, or Level 1/Level 2 automation systems is highly desirable.
- Strong safety record in high-temperature, high-voltage environments.
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with steel mill KPIs such as yield, energy per ton, and uptime/maintenance cycle metrics.
