Overview
Position Title:
Maintenance Mechanic 2
Location:
Assembly, Rockford
Shift: 3rd Shift (Monday-Thursday; 9:00pm - 7:00am)
Responsibilities- Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment while following all work practices and procedures.
- Support the packaging lines by making routine and non-routine adjustments to ensure a high-quality product.
- Collaborate with other departments and Maintenance Mechanics to keep lines running efficiently.
- Perform preventive maintenance, changeovers, repairs, and running adjustments.
- Gather information from various sources, analyze data, identify implications, generate viable solutions, and evaluate consequences of options.
- Convey ideas and opinions ethically to gain support, and provide guidance and on-the-job training as needed.
- Define, diagnose, and resolve problems; determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform duties; detect faulty operations or defective material and report to the appropriate personnel.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and services.
- May require overtime and/or weekend work; may require use of PPE and PAPR.
- Adhere to PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies and procedures; escalate safety or quality issues per protocol.
- Perform Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) on packaging lines; execute initiatives related to OPEX objectives.
- Analyze equipment failures to improve reliability while maintaining productivity.
- Update setup documentation to ensure current and accurate settings.
- Coordinate with Business Units and Scheduling to maintain timelines for launches or validations.
- Audit 5S cleanliness and organization in the facility; promote a safe and productive workplace.
- Document and drive actions for the value stream; review centerline documents for sustainability and productivity.
- Attend Tier I Daily Directional Setting (DDS) meetings; provide feedback after outages and follow up as needed.
- Required:
Skill testing at approved grade level for the position; at least 2–3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, or 2-year technical school. - Basic mathematical and computer skills; ability to perform basic computer tasks and operate common programs.
- Minimum professional proficiency: able to participate effectively in conversations and read standard items addressed to general readers; high reasoning and problem-solving abilities; ability to interpret various instructions.
- Preferred:
Ability to identify and resolve problems promptly; work independently or as part of a team; attention to detail; drive for results; packaging experience.
Compensation:
The hiring range for this position is $24.58 to $29.19/hour plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final offer amounts are determined by factors including experience, education, credentials, geography, and subject matter expertise.
