Contract duration: 12 month contract with potential to extend or convert
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer 2 to support the development and execution of advanced manufacturing processes within a foundry environment. This position will focus on developing and implementing centrifugal casting processes and manufacturing parameters, combining hands-on shop-floor work with research, development, and design of experiments (DOEs). The engineer will help develop a casting method designed to improve manufacturing efficiency, product traceability, workplace safety, and cost performance.
The role is approximately 75% shop-floor based and is ideal for a self-starting engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving and working directly with manufacturing equipment and processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and support manufacturing processes associated with centrifugal casting.
- Prepare and start up manufacturing equipment for daily operations and experiments.
- Execute daily design of experiment (DOE) activities and document results.
- Analyze findings from previous experiments and make adjustments to support ongoing process development.
- Develop and evaluate manufacturing parameters for centrifugal casting processes.
- Support efforts to reduce exposure risks associated with traditional casting methods.
- Help develop processes that enable single-piece product flow and full product traceability.
- Identify and communicate process issues, needs, and roadblocks to the team.
- Document experimental results, process adjustments, and findings.
- Collaborate with team members to review results and determine next steps.
- Participate in weekly project/update meetings with leadership.
- Provide clear handoffs to the counterpart on the following shift.
- Apply GD&T, problem-solving, and manufacturing engineering principles to support process development.
- Work primarily on the manufacturing shop floor while following required safety and PPE procedures.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- 2–4 years of industrial experience required.
- An Associate's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience may be considered.
- Candidates with a Master's degree may be considered with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Familiarity with foundry processes is required.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience is strongly preferred.
