Description:
Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Marshall First Christian Church in Marshall, Illinois, as they search for their next Lead Minister. Marshall First Christian Church is an independent Christian Church in the Restoration Movement with a long-standing presence in the community, known for its family-like culture, biblical teaching, and strong commitment to serving people both inside and outside the church.
The Lead Minister will serve as the primary spiritual leader and shepherd for the congregation, working collaboratively with the elders and staff to guide the church into a healthy, unified, and mission-focused next chapter.
Qualifications (selected):
- A humble, relational shepherd who leads with integrity, emotional maturity, and a genuine love for people
- A strong biblical preacher and teacher who is committed to Scripture and Restoration Movement convictions
- A unifier and bridge-builder who can restore trust, strengthen communication, and lead through a season of healing
- A collaborative team leader who partners well with elders and staff rather than leading from a top-down posture
The Lead Minister at Marshall First Christian Church provides spiritual leadership, vision, and pastoral care for a congregation of approximately 150–200 people. This role is centered on preaching and teaching God’s Word, shepherding the congregation, and leading staff and ministry teams in alignment with the church’s mission and values. The Lead Minister works closely with an elder-led leadership structure, helping to discern and implement vision while fostering a healthy, collaborative culture among leaders, staff, and volunteers.
This is a full-time role for someone who senses a clear calling to walk patiently with people, strengthen unity, and help the church move forward with clarity and hope.
- Preach and teach Scripture-grounded sermons on Sunday mornings
- Provide spiritual leadership and vision in partnership with the elders
- Lead and support the church staff, encouraging coordination and unity across ministries
- Oversee and promote adult discipleship, including small groups and Bible-based teaching
- Champion evangelism, prayer, missions, and community outreach
- Serve as a visible pastoral presence through visitation, relationship-building, and care for congregants
- Act as an ambassador for Christ and the church within the Marshall community
