Position Description
The Prayer Pastor is responsible for leading our Doing What Jesus Did (DWJD) class, leading the prayer teams and leading the Prayer Room.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Leadership- Lead and facilitate DWJD
- Grow volunteer teams.
- Develop volunteer leaders.
- Provide spiritual leadership in the community both publicly and privately.
- Provide spiritual guidance to Northwoods in the ways of the Holy Spirit.
- Teach DWJD.
- Teach prayer orientation.
- Teach monthly prayer training for prayer team and bi-monthly trainings for prayer room.
- Lead prayer events.
- Lead various prayer teams.
- Lead in the Prayer Room.
- Help coordinate and lead corporate Prayer Meetings.
- Serve at other events as required.
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors, Life Help Team, and volunteers.
- Respond as required to congregational needs
- Manage the budget for DWJD and Prayer Ministries
- Attend various staff, team and supervisor meetings.
- Update and manage the church database as needed.
- Credentialing: Pursue and maintain ministerial credentials through Fellowship of Evangelical Churches (F.E.C.). Be an active participant in F.E.C. denominational events and initiatives.
- Care Responsibilities: The expressions of pastoral care may include but not be limited to:
Prayer, teaching, encouragement, shepherding, equipping, personal ministry, and visitation. - Officiant: Specific functions pastors officiate include weddings (and pre-marital counseling), funerals, baptisms, and communion.
- Pastor On Call Rotation: Every Pastor will serve on a scheduled rotation, with the assignment to meet emergency needs and after-hours care to our congregation. Expectations include being available 24/7 by phone, responsible management of requests, needs, and emergencies, and ensuring hospital visits are made.
- Benevolence: Be familiar with case details for benevolence and how the team comes to a final approval. Be exposed to the Benevolence Team and their meetings as well as any related reporting.
- Counseling: Provide short-term personal ministry to individuals, couples, and families using biblical principles and providing effective treatment goals. (One-to-one sessions).
- Previous experience and training in ministry is helpful.
- Biblical understanding and ability to teach, mentor and train people in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- Ability to continually learn and grow personally.
- Skill with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams and Pro Presenter.
Prophecy, Discernment, Teaching, Leadership
Education and Experience RequiredA degree in the Bible or Theology is preferred. Experience in ministry settings where discretion and management of gifts of the Holy Spirit is important.
