Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre (CRDT) gathers people to contemplate our unique distinctions and common humanity. Chicago is our community. It is underrepresented in the arts and culture of this city (and beyond) and often segregated when representation does exist. For nearly 30 years we have served our community in the makeup of our company AND the content of our artwork.

CRDT is seeking a part-time Engagement Coordinator to deepen community connections and facilitate increased community involvement with the company to benefit more people with the inclusive culture and relevant artwork of CRDT.

The Engagement Coordinator will work closely with CRDT’s Managing Director to establish and deepen community networks, assess and respond to community needs, and draw individuals to engagement opportunities. This will likely include:

  • Attend regular staff meetings to participate in the life of the company and maintain an understanding of programming and focus
  • With the Managing Director, develop and implement a plan to expand CRDT’s community engagement, likely to include
  • Develop networking plan for senior leadership to raise CRDT’s profile in the Chicago arts community
  • Identify networks or other access points to community members likely to be interested in and/or benefit from engagement with CRDT, and develop and implement plan to build those relationships
  • Develop community input and feedback pathways and help to platform community needs and interests in CRDT planning
  • Coordinate with social media and other marketing efforts to present messages that respond to community needs and interests

This is a part-time, independent contractor position. Initial contract for 6 months, up to 5-10 hours per week at $30 per hour. There is the potential for renewal.

The successful candidate will be outgoing and engaged in the community, comfortable with and interested in both working collaboratively and independently, and committed to CRDT’s core values of cultural diversity, community, collaboration, and creative passion. Additional beneficial qualities: cultural competence, marketing savvy, experience working in a diverse range of communities. Work will require the use of a personal computer and likely personal transportation to locations across Chicago.

Ability to speak and write in Spanish a plus.
