Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Inpatient Acute Rehab Unit requiring strong neuro skills and an active IL RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an inpatient acute rehab unit within a post-acute setting

• Unit features 29 beds with typical ratios of 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights

• Patient population includes neuro, neurosurgery, amputations, multi-trauma, cardiac, and complex medical cases with trachs but no vents

• CPAP/BiPAP used at night primarily for sleep apnea; high flow cannula available but not heated

• Heparin drips are used but no drip titration required

• Care team includes nurse aides at a 1:9/10 ratio and PT/OT/ST support

• EPIC EMR is used in the unit

• Day and night shifts are available, 12 hours each from 7:00 to 19:30 or 19:00 to 7:30

• Every other weekend and rotating holiday coverage are required

• No call or standby required

• Float to LTAC or med-surg as needed (no float to HAU unless trained)

• RN participation in interdisciplinary team conferences is mandatory

• Scrub dress code allows any color, but t-shirts require approval

• Unit orientation includes 2 days of classroom instruction and 2-3 days or nights with a preceptor

• COVID vaccination is not required

• Local candidates receive an adjusted rate if living within 50 miles

• No radius rule applies for eligibility

• No charge nurses; house supervisors provide support

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at the time of consideration

• Current BLS (AHA) certification is mandatory

• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience

• Demonstrated strong neuro nursing skills

• Experience with rehabilitation and/or post-acute care preferred

• Must be able to learn QRP and specific rehab documentation practices

• Negative drug screen for all panels is required
