Summary
Position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Award amounts (up to $200,000) and eligibility periods (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review.
Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
- The Nurse Practitioner practices in Primary Care Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs mission.
- Provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management.
- Practices to the full extent of education, training, and certification.
- Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position.
- Has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position.
- Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention using evidence‑based practice.
- Develops and implements individualized plans to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
- Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary members.
- Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
- Prescribes pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions.
- Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.
- Provides education to patients and families.
- Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
