Medical Solutions is seeking a travel nurse RN CVICU for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois.

Estimated pay package based on bill rate at time job was posted. Bill rates can change frequently and without notice. Exact pay package may vary based on guaranteed hours, distance being traveled, and customizations available for travelers.

Responsibilities & Requirements
  • Number of beds: 20, all private, all monitored with Nurse.
  • Patient to Nurse ratios ranging from 1:1, 1:2, to 2:1 depending on acuity.
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS preferred; CCRN a plus.
  • Common diagnoses/types of patients:
    Post‑open‑heart surgical patients (CABG, valve procedures, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, carotids, STEMI, unstable angina, non‑STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, targeted temperature management, transcutaneous/transvenous pacing, severe heart failure, TAVR, ventilated patients, overflow patients from other ICUs including COVID, upcoming post‑VAD placement, post‑heart transplant).
  • Specialty intervention equipment: IABP, Impella, Swan‑Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, CRRT.
  • Line types: PICC, midlines, CVC, arterial lines (radial and femoral).
  • Must have at least 2 solid years of CVICU experience; able to manage patients independently from day one.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, organization, teamwork, compassion, ability to follow protocols and orders, motivation, time management, positive attitude in fast‑paced, high‑stress environment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret strips; read own telemetry; troubleshoot ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, nitric oxide.
  • RNs required to titrate multiple drips (dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, esmolol) and set‑rate drips per protocol or order.
  • Charge nurses and hous supervisors available 24/7; PCT ratios 1:12–1:15.
  • Hospitalist/Intensivist 24/7; APNs/PAs on call; respiratory therapists 24/7.
  • Shifts:

    12 hours (7a‑7p or 7p‑7a), no self‑scheduling for non‑AHU Mission Partners; blocking not allowed.
  • Weekend requirements:
    Every other weekend; day‑shift weekends Saturday/Sunday; night‑shift weekends Friday/Saturday.
  • Holiday requirements:
    Every other.
  • Floating:
    Float to every level; full team responsibilities.
  • Scrub dress code:
    Appropriate, not too tight, no fall‑off; no provided scrubs.
  • Unit requires proficiency in all cardiovascular ICU components (except immediate post‑op optional); VAD and transplant additional; active use of swan, CVC, arterial lines, temporary pacemakers, EP patients, IABPs; frequent drip titration; multiple ventilated patients.
  • RNs expected to read and interpret telemetry; monitor techs present; ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, high flow, nitric oxide used.
