Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients. The Clinic RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members in an outpatient clinic setting. Clinic RNs are pivotal members of the care delivery team headed by the physician and have specialized knowledge, skills, and ability pertinent to ambulatory care patient needs.

Scope of performance includes prioritization and triage of care delivery, implementing established standing orders and protocols, performing procedures and therapies consistent with training and licensure.

Shift Details

Full time (40 budgeted hours). The caregiver will be scheduled for either five 8‑hour shifts or four 10‑hour shifts per week. Scheduled Weekly

Miles City, Montana - This position supports both the Holy Rosary OB/GYN Clinics and the Holy Rosary General Surgery Clinic.

Preferred Qualifications
  • RN experience preferred.
  • IBCLC certification preferred and/or wound care certification preferred.

Assist with provider results, support lactation consultations, provide wound care services.

Scope of Practice
  • Performs general nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.
  • Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition.
  • Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
  • Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response. Refer to/consult with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.
  • Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
  • Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • Current/valid Registered Nurse license from the state licensing board is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
  • One (1) year related experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
Other Qualifications
  • Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
  • Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and functions; and community resources. Understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.
  • Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
  • Critical thinking skills within scope of practice population health management and improvement of patient outcomes.
Physical Demands
  • Require the employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require verbal communication as well as hearing and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
