• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (August 18, 2025 – November 17, 2025)
• Facility Type:
  Acute care, Level 1 Trauma Center
• Unit:
  Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (varied 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts possible)
• Hours:
  
  36 hours per week guaranteed (after orientation)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020-$2070
• Call: 3 overnight call shifts every 6 weeks; no weekend shifts required
• Bed Size: 50 beds across 5 PACUs
• Dress Code:
  Surgical scrubs provided by the facility

PACU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (Registered Nurse)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU nursing experience (critical care or recovery room experience preferred)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Experience with EPIC and OP TIME charting systems preferred
• Ability to provide clinical care for both adult and pediatric patients
• Willingness to take overnight call as scheduled

PACU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver Phase I and Phase III recovery care for post-surgical patients, including general and complex surgical cases
• Care for ICU boarders and patients from the cath lab (TAVR, ablations, pacemakers, etc.)
• Monitor and assess patients’ post-anesthesia status, ensuring safe and effective recovery
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by healthcare providers
• Document patient care using EPIC and OP TIME electronic health records
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 in Phase I and 1:3-4 in Phase III recovery
• Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training as required
• Float within the five PACU areas as needed (no floating outside of recovery areas)
