Salary: $100,000 to $140,000 per year

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides comprehensive health care for children with blood and cancer disorders, both in outpatient and inpatient settings. The role also includes staffing and providing care for pediatric patients receiving infusions and testing for non‑pediatric hematology oncology cases in the pediatric infusion center.

• Manage the care of patients within assigned area and/or specialty within the parameters of medical staff privileges.
• Obtain relevant patient health history, study and interpret patient tests and records, and perform physical examinations.
• Perform diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic procedures, order special screenings, developmental, and laboratory tests to diagnose conditions, and interpret results.
• Prescribe or order appropriate pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions and develop treatment plans.
• Develop educational plans for patients and families.
• Assist with scheduling of patients for upcoming procedures, coordinating with other services, and completing necessary documentation.
• Order appropriate consultations or referrals.
• Determine effectiveness of treatment plans with documentation of treatment provided and patient outcomes.
• Reassess and modify plans in collaboration with patients, families, and treatment teams within medical staff privileges.
• Participate in educational experiences of nursing students, medical students, residents, and other health‑care disciplines through case conferences, precepting, mentoring, and curriculum development.
• Perform related duties and participate in special projects, such as managing care at the pediatric infusion center and overseeing follow‑up for pediatric oncology patients on leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumor, and benign hematological conditions, both inpatient and outpatient.

• Master’s Degree in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
• Graduation from an accredited APRN program.
• Current license as a Professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice.
• Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois required.
• Faculty appointment is required to receive clinical privileges at the University of Illinois Health System.
