Job Details

Member of interdisciplinary team providing and managing patient care using nursing process.
Promotes evidence-based practice through nursing protocols and procedures.
Develops individualized care plans collaboratively with patient/family and healthcare team.
Assesses patient status via interview, observation, and physical assessment.
Uses interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes.
Evaluates and documents patient progress throughout shift.
Modifies care plans based on patient condition changes.
Demonstrates professional accountability and seeks continued self-development.
Maintains current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice.
Demonstrates technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting.
Promotes professional development of self and team members.
Shares clinical knowledge through informal teaching.
Demonstrates problem-solving in patient moving and handling.
Promotes patient and staff safety using lift equipment.
Obtains lab specimens and performs bedside lab testing with quality control.
Coordinates interdisciplinary patient care and collaborates with team members.
Analyzes clinical situations systematically and obtains resources as needed.
Recognizes need for assistance and utilizes resources including RRT consultation.
Assumes assignment of non-complex and some complex patient management.
Prioritizes work based on patient condition and assignment changes.
Utilizes team resources to solve problems or meet needs.
Collaborates in organizing patient care tasks from admission to discharge.
Provides goal-focused shift report.
Delegates tasks appropriately within team.
Advocates with physicians on patient's behalf when necessary.
Assesses and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to patient's/family's age-specific needs.
Considers cultural, age-specific, gender, and developmental factors in patient teaching.
Adapts teaching strategies based on patient's response and readiness to learn.

Job Requirements

Minimum two (2) years of relevant nursing experience.
Illinois state RN License in good standing required.
BLS (American Heart Association) certification required.
ACLS (American Heart Association) certification required.
BSN degree required.

Schedule Information

Day shift: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.

Unit Specific Information

Specialty: RN - CMH Open Heart (Cardiac specialty).
