Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg

Prime Time Healthcare Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois.

• Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated.

• # Beds: 54 beds (2 semi-private).
• Patient ratios:
  Day shift 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6.
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS.
• Common diagnoses/types of patients:
  Stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, any neuroscience, some medical overflow.
• Experience or must‑have skills:
  Level 1 trauma experience, previous travel experience (no first‑time travelers), prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit.
• RNs required to titrate drips? Yes.
• Common titratable &set‑rate drips:
  Heparin titrated drip based on PTT – must have heparin gtt experience.
• Charge nurse & house supervisor on each shift:
  Charge nurse 24/7; does not take assignments unless short and nurses above ratios; house supervisor 24/7.
• Patient aid/tech ratios:
  Days 1:9‑10, Evening 1:9‑10, Night 1:10‑12.
• RT equipment (Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, etc.): RNs required to troubleshoot; high flow for stable COVID only (very rare).
• Tele/monitor techs:
  House‑wide telemetry, Phillips monitors. RNs do not need to read strips.
• Shifts & scheduling: 12’s for nurses, one shift; will block if possible.
• Weekend requirement:
  Every other weekend;
  Saturday & Sunday both shifts.
• Holiday requirement:
  Every other.
• Call or standby requirement:
  No.
• Floating requirements:
  Float in rotation with staff; if outside general unit, only perform skills you are competent in and be assigned with a trained nurse.
• Scrub color/dress code/scrubs provided:
  No color requirement; tattoos covered while on duty; no piercings except ears.
• Orientation: 2 days – computer, unit‑specific items, educator, preceptor.
