American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a 13-week night shift Acute Rehab Unit position requiring an active IL RN license and strong neuro nursing skills.
Details- Work in the Acute Rehab Unit (29 beds) of a post-acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes neuro, neurosurgery, amputation, multi-trauma, cardiac, and complex medical cases (trachs, no vents)
- Patient ratios are 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Nurse aide support available at a 1:9/10 ratio
- PT, OT, and speech therapy services available on unit
- Respiratory support limited to CPAP/BiPAP for sleep apnea and nasal cannula (including high-flow, but not heated high-flow)
- Tele packs used but not monitored by RNs
- RNs are not required to titrate drips, with heparin as the only common titratable drip
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Required to work every other weekend
- Holiday rotation required, every other holiday
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required to LTAC and med-surg units, with no floating to HAU unless trained
- Required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
- Active IL RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- BSN not required
- Strong neuro nursing skills required
- Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels as part of a Drug-Free Campus policy
- Provide rehabilitative nursing care to patients with neuro, cardiac, trauma, and complex medical diagnoses
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local rate
- Unit-specific orientation includes 2 days of classroom training followed by 2-3 days/nights with a preceptor, including training on QRP and rehab-specific documentation
- Any color scrubs permitted, but t-shirts are not allowed unless approved
- COVID vaccination is not required for consideration
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
