Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Peoria, IL

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit, managing a patient population that includes MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery with chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
• Perform continuous EKG interpretation and collaborate with monitor technicians using Philips telemetry monitoring systems
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin in accordance with physician orders and unit protocols
• Manage patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen as indicated
• Float to other general medical units as needed
• Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements, including every-other-weekend coverage

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Demonstrated proficiency in EKG interpretation
• Experience with medication titration and drip management
• Proficiency in all core nursing skills applicable to an acute care telemetry setting
• Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free workplace policy

• Current ACLS certification
• Prior experience in a telemetry, cardiac, or cardio thoracic nursing environment
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patient care

• Work within a well-supported unit structure featuring 24/7 charge nurse coverage, a 24/7 house supervisor, and dedicated patient care technicians and monitor technicians on every shift
• Join a high-acuity, specialized cardio thoracic team with consistent scheduling and a clearly defined orientation process
