Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Peoria, IL

Contract | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0700–1930) | Every Other Weekend Required

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit managing diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy cases
• Perform continuous EKG interpretation and monitor telemetry using Philips monitoring systems, in coordination with on-unit monitor technicians
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
• Manage patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen in applicable circumstances
• Float to other general medical units as needed
• Collaborate with 24/7 charge nurses, house supervisors, and patient care technicians to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios (Days 1:4–5)

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation
• Experience with medication titration and drip management
• Competency in all fundamental nursing skills applicable to an adult medical-surgical/telemetry setting
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy

• Current ACLS certification (recommended)
• Prior experience in a telemetry, cardiac, or cardio thoracic nursing environment
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patient populations

• Work within a well-supported unit featuring 24/7 charge nurse coverage, house supervisor availability, and dedicated monitor technicians on every shift
• Gain experience with a diverse and complex cardiac and thoracic patient population in a high-acuity, team-oriented environment
