Cardiac Cath Lab RN

This position is for a Cardiac Cath Lab RN. The unit has six suites and performs an average of 4-20 cases per day. Common diagnoses and types of patients include STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, congenital issues, TAVR, MITRACLIP, and peripheral cases. The cath lab is separate from interventional radiology and electrophysiology. Nurses will be required to demonstrate the ability to read EKG strips.

We occasionally titrate drips as part of patient care. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. Equipment includes GE and Philips monitors as well as McKesson systems. Cardiologists are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each shift has a charge nurse who coordinates patient care and fields calls from clinicians. Charge nurses also serve as the resource for nurses on call.

The call team consists of four people, with three-person teams for regular cases. Shifts are typically 9 hours, but may occasionally extend to ensure all cases are completed. There is a call requirement of 6-8 shifts per month, including primary and backup call. Weekend call rotations occur every 6-7 weeks. Weekend shifts involve being on call from Friday evening until Monday morning.

Holiday call requirements include shifts during specific holidays. This position does not require floating, but experience in interventional radiology is beneficial. Scrubs will be provided for all staff. Unit-specific orientation will take place during the onboarding process.
