Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Acute Care position offering 12-hour night shifts and requiring an active IL RN license.

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• General medical/surgical experience required
• Strong teamwork and communication skills required
• BSN not required for this position
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

Responsibilities

• Work in a 20-bed Medical Acute Care unit within an acute care hospital setting
• General medical patient population, including some telemetry patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4/5 on day shift and 1:5/6 on night shift
• PCTs available with ratios of 1:6/7 on days and 1:10 on nights
• Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7
• Telemetry patients monitored via Phillips monitors with central station monitor techs; bedside RNs do not read strips
• No ventilators on this unit
• 12-hour night shift schedule
• Every other weekend required
• 3 of 6 holidays required per year
• Call/standby requirements depend on hospital staffing needs
• Floating required, with travel RNs floated first followed by rotation
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Provide direct patient care on a general medical acute care unit
• Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and PCTs to support patient care
• No specific scrub color or dress code required
• Unit-specific orientation provided
• Local candidates accepted with a reduced rate for those within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius restriction limiting eligibility for the position
• COVID vaccination not required
• Preference given to candidates with general medical/surgical travel experience
