DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position requiring an active IL license and call coverage in a Level 1 trauma acute care setting.
Details- Work in the Cardiac Cath Lab of an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital
- 6 suites/labs handling 4-20 cases per day at a 1:1 ratio
- Cardiac Cath Lab is separate from IR and EP
- Common diagnoses include STEMI, NSTEMI, HF, congenital defects, TAVR, MITRACLIP, and peripheral cases
- Regular cases staffed with 1 RN and 2 RTR techs; call teams consist of 4 people
- Uses EPIC EMR along with GE and Philips monitors and Mc Kesson
- 10-hour day shifts, occasionally extended to complete emergent cases
- On-call requirements include 6-8 call shifts per month (primary and backup)
- Weekend call rotation approximately every 6-7 weeks, running Friday 5:30pm to Monday 6:00am
- Additional 24-hour backup weekend shifts required approximately once per month for emergent case coverage
- Holiday on-call coverage required, including Easter backup call
- No floating required, though experience in IR may allow cross-coverage
- Active IL RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Ability to read cardiac strips required
- Experience titrating drips required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Negative drug screen required across all panels
- Serve as the RN circulator during regular and emergent cardiac cath procedures
- Charge nurse serves as a resource, coordinates scheduling, and fields calls, with on-call RNs also acting in this capacity
- Cardiologists are on call 24/7, 365 days a year
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local pay rate
