Responsibilities
- Provide and manage patient care as a member of the interdisciplinary team through the nursing process
- Promote evidence-based practice through nursing processes, protocols, and procedures
- Assess patient status through interviews, observation, and physical assessment
- Develop individualized plans of care collaboratively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Implement interventions and evaluate and document patient progress
- Modify care plans based on evaluations and changes in patient condition
- Complete patient charts and event reports
- Troubleshoot clinical equipment and perform bedside laboratory testing with quality control
- Coordinate interdisciplinary patient care from admission through discharge
- Prioritize assignments and delegate tasks appropriately
- Provide shift reports and advocate for patients with physicians
- Educate patients and families using age-, cultural-, gender-, and developmental-appropriate strategies
- Ensure patient safety and follow National Patient Safety Goals
- Participate in data collection, audits, process improvement initiatives, unit councils, and patient satisfaction activities
- Share clinical knowledge and promote professional development among team members
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Bachelor's Degree:
Nursing (Required) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year
- American Heart Association (AHA) - Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days
- American Heart Association (AHA) - Work experience as a Registered Nurse
- Knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing
- Technical knowledge of equipment and ability to troubleshoot problems
- Knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice
- Ability to perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control
- Ability to assume assignments involving non-complex and some complex patient management
- Ability to work day shifts and PRN 8-hour shifts
Demonstrates expertise in patient care management, evidence-based nursing practices, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Proficient in patient assessment, care plan development, and bedside laboratory testing with a focus on patient safety and quality control.
