DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring NRP certification and prior post-partum patient care experience.
Details- Acute care Labor & Delivery/OB Acute-Post Partum unit with 9 LDR rooms, 2 OR suites, 1 PACU, and 6 triage rooms
- 36-bed private postpartum unit with average daily census of 18 adults and 14 infants
- Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines with a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Common patient population includes postpartum mothers and newborn infants
- 12-hour night shifts with every 3rd weekend required (Fri/Sat nights, Sat/Sun days)
- Every other holiday required
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required within the Family Birthing Center, Behavioral Health, Women's Care Unit, and L&D as needed
- Required to titrate insulin and heparin drips per specific orders
- Charge RN and House Supervisor available 24/7
- PCTs available to assist with adult patients
- Labor hospitalist in house 24/7 and newborn hospitalist coverage daily with NICU support at night
- Uses Epic EMR and EFM system, and Philips telemetry monitors (nurses not required to interpret strips)
- Self-scheduling offered in 6-week blocks with block scheduling considered
- Active IL RN license required (application in process may be considered)
- BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
- Experience with post-partum patient care and required assessments
- ACLS certification, lactation education/support experience, and Level 2 Nursery experience preferred
- Must be comfortable troubleshooting home CPAP/BiPAP equipment
- Provide direct patient care to postpartum mothers and newborn infants in an acute OB setting
- Unit-specific orientation includes 2 full 12-hour shifts on OB Acute, 1 day in L&D, and 1 day in Women's Care Unit
- Any professional-looking scrubs are acceptable
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a reduced local rate
- Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels as part of facility requirements
- Covid vaccination is not required for consideration
