American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Inpatient Acute Rehab Unit position requiring an active IL license and strong neuro nursing skills.
Details- Acute Rehab Unit within a post-acute care hospital setting
- 29-bed unit with patient ratios of 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Patient population includes neuro, neurosurgery, amputation, multi-trauma, cardiac, and complex medical cases (trachs, no vents)
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour day shifts (7a-7:30p)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation required (every other holiday)
- Floating required to LTAC and Med-Surg units; float to HAU only if trained
- No on-call or standby requirements
- RNs are not required to titrate drips, with heparin as the only common titratable drip
- Unit utilizes tele packs but RNs are not required to read strips
- Nurse aides support the unit at a 1:9/10 ratio
- PT, OT, and ST services available on the unit
- CPAP/BiPAP used only at night for sleep apnea; nasal cannula and high-flow cannula available (no heated high-flow)
- Active IL RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- Strong neuro nursing skills required
- Required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
- Negative drug screen required for all panels
- Provide direct nursing care to patients on an acute inpatient rehab unit
- 2 days of classroom orientation followed by 2-3 days/nights with a preceptor, including training on QRP and rehab-specific documentation
- Unit is supported by house supervisors rather than charge nurses
- Scrubs of any color permitted; t-shirts not allowed unless approved
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a reduced local rate
- Requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration
