Firefighters

The Village of Peoria Heights, Illinois is currently accepting applications for part-time firefighters.

The 2 main qualification categories are fire certifications and EMS certifications. Minimum - Emergency Medical Responder qualification, but EMT would be preferred. Will also require (Basic Operations Firefighter). Minimum age is 18. Background check, and medical physical required.

Willing to work 12 hour shifts on a fire engine, responding to all emergency incidents throughout the Village of Peoria Heights, up to 32 hours per week. Benefits available for those who work over 30 hours per week. Similar to a 24/48hr schedule we run ahrs on, 60hrs off. 6am-6pm& 6pm-6am shift options. In house trainings on every Wednesday night at 6pm.

Peoria Heights is a hybrid department running about 1200 calls a year with a two-person engine. We have 24hr coverage. When needed the nearest back up just minutes away from the City of Peoria. Peoria Heights also provides training in house and out abroad, including training with Peoria Fire and their academy grounds.
