Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Our client is a privately owned, global CDMO and contract manufacturing organization providing turnkey development, manufacturing and packaging services across the pharmaceutical, beauty and consumer products sectors. The Chicago-area facility is a large-scale manufacturing site employing approximately 210 people.
About the RoleAn EHS Manager is being appointed to lead environmental, health and safety activities at a high-volume manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, site-based leadership position suited to someone who enjoys working closely with operations and being visible on the manufacturing floor. The successful candidate will ideally come from an FDA-regulated, GMP manufacturing environment producing finished products for consumers. Relevant backgrounds may include personal care, consumer goods, specialty chemicals, food or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Candidates should be based in or near Chicago, ideally within approximately 45 minutes of the facility.
- Lead environmental compliance programs, ensuring adherence to federal, state and local regulations.
- Oversee site-wide EHS initiatives, policies and training programs.
- Drive continuous improvement across environmental, health and safety procedures.
- Manage EHS metrics and report key performance indicators to senior leadership.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce operational risk, waste and environmental impact.
- Support the management of hazardous waste and wastewater treatment activities.
- Promote and strengthen the site’s safety culture through regular engagement with employees and operational teams.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a visible presence on the manufacturing floor and provide practical EHS guidance to site teams.
- Lead investigations, corrective actions and preventative measures where required.
- Approximately 5–7 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience across environmental, health and safety responsibilities, with a balanced understanding of all three areas.
- Background in an FDA-regulated, GMP or similarly compliance-driven manufacturing setting.
- Practical knowledge of OSHA requirements, hazardous waste and wastewater treatment.
- Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs.
- Strong understanding of environmental compliance and risk reduction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field preferred.
- A hands-on, floor-focused approach, rather than purely corporate EHS experience.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Comfortable working on-site five days per week.
- A clear EHS roadmap and established support structure are already in place.
