Summary
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager positions primarily aim to fulfill Buckle’s mission of creating the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for Guests. They perform sales, merchandising, and operational tasks such as cashiering, merchandise display, register procedures, and facility cleaning. The AIT works closely with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, and provide leadership.
The Assistant Manager is a progression from the AIT, adding higher‑level duties while sharing many responsibilities.
Pay range: $17–$20 per hour. For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales.

- Answer questions and recommend merchandise based on Guest needs.
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items.
- Demonstrate product knowledge and share it with teammates.
- Maintain awareness of current sales, promotions, payment policies, and security practices.
- Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and net sales goals set by Store Management.
- Provide legendary service throughout the store (Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, register area).
- Know all exchange and return procedures and use them as show‑manship opportunities.
- Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to accomplish goals.
- Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty.
- Explore ways to expand Guest selection through inventory methods and iPad apps.
- Build strong Guest relationships to develop a client‑based business.
- Lead by example with show‑manship, customer service, and attentiveness.
- Recognize and communicate Guest Levels with the team.
- Ask business‑driven and show‑manship questions to managers and teammates.
- Coachable and consistently welcome feedback to improve sales presentations.
- Perform leadership actions and maintain high standards when Manager is absent.
- Plan sales goals with Store Manager.
- Own store sales performance across categories.
- Passion for product education and show‑manship.
- Recognize recruiting opportunities via Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and teammate recommendation.
- Coach and create relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred.
- Train new teammates to meet Buckle’s accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention, and sales presentation standards.
- Maintain a positive floor culture with a positive attitude.
- Model personal dress code and coach teammates on fashion.
- Participate effectively in daily setup, training, and performance reviews.
- Motivate teammates to complete daily tasks set by Store Management.
