Cook County School District 130 is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled professional to serve as the Assistant Director of School Safety. The Assistant Director of School Safety supports the Director of School Safety in maintaining a secure environment for all students, staff, and visitors. The Assistant Director plays a critical role in implementing safety policies, managing risk, and overseeing the strategic deployment of safety personnel to ensure a comprehensive approach to district-wide security.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Assist in managing the placement, use, and maintenance of electronic security equipment and surveillance systems.
- Serve as a key link between the district, community law enforcement, and emergency responders.
- Aid in developing and updating emergency response plans for lockdowns, evacuations, and other crises.
- Assist in the deployment, supervision, and evaluation of School Safety Liaisons.
- Collaborate with the Director of School Safety to oversee visitor access control, identification procedures, and mandated building safety drills.
- Document and report incidents of violence, vandalism, or security violations.
- Facilitate professional development and safety orientation programs for district staff.
- Bachelor's degree in law enforcement or criminal justice preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in safety/security or law enforcement.
- Significant experience in school-related investigative fields and juvenile prevention programs.
- Proficiency in the design and operation of digital electronic security systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal and public relations skills, with the ability to communicate concisely in oral and written formats.
- Ability to collect and analyze data to identify security needs and implement effective action plans.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong work ethic, professional integrity, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 commensurate with experience.
- Paid vacation, sick days, and personal days provided.

- Work Hours:
7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Attendance at Board of Education meetings required.
