Security Officer

Provides physical security for the hospital and grounds and protects patients, visitors, and employees from physical harm or loss of personal property. Protects the assets of the hospital from fire, theft, damage or misuse and immediately responds to emergency situations as directed. Proactively identifies and resolves security/safety issues that pose a potential risk to hospital and exercises mature judgment and sound reasoning in the performance of job responsibilities.

Able to maintain a courteous and tactful demeanor in all interactions with team members, visitors, and patients.

Certifications:

Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI);
Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) - Illinois State Police (ISP);
Driver's License
- Illinois Secretary of State (ILSOS);
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days
- American Heart Association (AHA),

Education:

H.S. Diploma/GED,

Work Experience:

Professional in military;
Professional in public safety;
Law enforcement;
Security

Performs productive/purposeful security patrols of the hospital, garage and perimeter. Recognizes conditions which are or will compromise the security of the organization and takes immediate actions to mitigate. Reports and/or corrects safety and security violations encountered during patrols. Takes proactive measures to mitigate thefts, disturbances, and other criminal incidents. Checks to ensure that visitors and team members are wearing proper identification badges/passes.

Immediately notifies the supervisor of security/safety-related problems or issues. Adheres to post orders for all fixed and patrol positions. Proactively and consistently submits work orders to correct safety/security violation discovered during patrols Provides a timely and appropriate response to emergency calls for service. Ensures that the applicable policies, procedures, training and directives are followed according to the specifics of the emergency situation.

Able to effectively de-escalate disruptive behavior. Able to remain in control of emotions and not take acting out behavior exhibited by others personally. Writes accurate grammatically correct incident reports and conducts thorough initial investigations. Follows –up on initial reports for additional information. Preserves evidence and crime scenes in accordance with departmental policies.
