Millwright (Maintenance Technician II)

Shift: 1st Shift – 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Compensation: $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

As a Millwright / Maintenance Technician II, you will play a key role in maintaining and troubleshooting heavy industrial equipment in a high-demand steel mill environment. This position focuses heavily on electrical systems while also requiring strong mechanical aptitude. You will work independently, diagnose issues efficiently, and support both day-to-day maintenance and larger repair projects.

What You’ll Do:
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems and components within heavy industrial equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and uptime
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems and complete necessary repairs or adjustments
  • Support welding and mechanical repair tasks as needed
  • Assist with larger maintenance and installation projects
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Utilize CMMS systems to document work orders and maintenance activity
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures including lockout/tagout and confined space protocols
  • Communicate maintenance updates clearly with supervisors and production teams
Requirements What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or associate degree preferred)
  • 3+ years of hands-on mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills in an industrial setting
  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and vibration analyzers
  • Solid understanding of preventive maintenance practices
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Knowledge of safety regulations including lockout/tagout procedures
  • Experience with CMMS systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications in industrial maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems
  • Experience with PLCs, BAS, or industrial control systems
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, steel, or heavy industrial environments
  • Familiarity with maintenance scheduling or project tracking tools
Technology & Tools
  • Experience using maintenance management software (CMMS)
  • Familiarity with diagnostic equipment such as multimeters and thermography tools
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and industrial repair equipment
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours if needed, including occasional weekends or on-call shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in industrial environments
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and learning new technologies
