Overview
Amentum is seeking an Industrial Electrician IV to join our facility operations & maintenance team in Peoria. Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 6:30AM to 3:00 PM; hours may vary based on business demand. Weekend hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation. Participation in “On Call” rotation required.
Responsibilities- Respond to work orders, troubleshoot, service, estimate materials and labor hours, and document electrical modifications and changes.
- Work with equipment and systems related to HVAC units, motors, lighting systems, control circuits, pumps, VFDs, PLCs and chillers.
- Provide instruction, mentorship, and training to less skilled technicians as needed.
- Effectively communicate with site management and customers to understand requirements and solve electrical problems.
- Identify and correct safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential failures.
- Perform general maintenance of equipment as required.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and control circuits from 24V up to 480V AC, electro-mechanical test devices, instrumentation devices, PLCs/ladder logic controllers, and variable frequency drives as necessary.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, install, upgrade, and repair lighting fixtures, controls, and switches as necessary.
- Execute projects by assigning, performing, and testing finished work; direct the work of unskilled or semi-skilled helpers while ensuring safety practices.
- Read schematics and one-line diagrams to determine solutions for problems; perform safety and hazard assessments prior to work.
- Inspect and document findings; communicate issues to client and management; ensure work completion.
- Respond to calls and take necessary actions; perform preventive maintenance on industrial electrical control and operating systems as scheduled in CMMS.
- Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance; enforce company safety policies and procedures; follow job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout practices; utilize PPE as required.
- Operate a variety of equipment (hand tools, laptops, diagnostic hardware) to perform tasks; demonstrate flexibility in day-to-day activities and scheduling for customer benefit.
- High School Diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- Electrician certificate from an apprenticeship program or equivalent; associate’s technical degree or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience; experience working safely with voltages up to 480V.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot from electrical one-lines and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment (multimeters, megger, verifiers); familiarity with distribution panels and switchboards.
- Following company Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Associate’s degree in industrial technology or certificate from an industrial electrical course; experience as a licensed electrician.
- Knowledge of lighting, lighting control and commercial systems; experience installing rigid conduit and EMT up to 3 inches.
- Working knowledge of NEC, transformer sizing, and conduit fill; experience troubleshooting and replacing 3-phase motors up to 100 HP.
- Experience with CMMS or Maintenance Management System (e.g., Maximo, MP2); NFPA 70E training preferred.
Special Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly; climb ladders and stairs; bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and stretch as required.
- Must be able to move in a 90-degree fashion repeatedly; keyboard or diagnostic work as needed; differentiate wire color-coding.
- Wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as needed.
- Occasional local travel; possible overtime, holidays, and weekend work.
