Field Service Technician (Senior) – North America Sector: industrial plants (aluminum, steel, heavy industry)
Wetalentia is supporting a leading European engineering and manufacturing company specialized in advanced industrial equipment and complete plant solutions for the metals industry.
The company operates globally and serves customers across multiple sectors, including industrial manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, and infrastructure. We are currently supporting the expansion of their North American team and are looking for a Senior Field Service Technician to join their growing service organization.
Role OverviewThe Field Service Technician will play a critical role in supporting customers across North America by performing on-site service, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support on complex industrial systems. This role is highly hands‑on and requires a strong combination of technical expertise, autonomy, and customer‑facing skills. The ideal candidate is an experienced field professional, comfortable working independently in dynamic environments and willing to travel extensively.
Key Responsibilities- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of complex industrial equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and automation issues directly at customer sites
- Provide remote and on-site technical support through a structured ticketing system
- Navigate PLC programs for diagnostics and basic modifications (Siemens, Rockwell preferred)
- Execute preventive maintenance activities and system upgrades
- Train customers on equipment usage, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance
- Identify and communicate upgrade or revamping opportunities
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams to resolve field issues
- Perform minor mechanical and electrical repairs (low and high voltage systems)
- Ensure compliance with safety standards (LOTO, electrical safety, etc.)
- High travel requirement (up to ~60–70%) across:
- United States
- Canada and Mexico
- Occasional South America
- Monday–Friday travel
- Possible extended assignments (2–3 weeks, occasionally)
- 7+ years of experience in field service, commissioning, or industrial maintenance
- Background in industrial plants (preferred: aluminum, steel, heavy industry)
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Electrical systems (low and high voltage)
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Motors, drives (VFD), sensors
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Experience with complex industrial systems (not standalone machines)
- Strong problem-solving skills and autonomy
- Customer-facing mindset and communication skills
- Experience in aluminum extrusion processes
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems (e.g., Rexroth, Oilgear)
- Spanish and/or Italian language skills
- Availability for non-standard hours and emergency support
- Ability to work independently and manage travel logistics
- Valid driver’s license
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
