TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10‑month year, Student days, salary in accordance with the Non‑Contracted Employee Agreement

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: The ideal security guard candidate will provide a safe and secure learning environment by protecting students, faculty, staff, and visitors through a visible security presence on school campuses. Monitor hallways, parking lots, entrances, and other areas of the campus, and remain available to assist school administrators as needed. Provide security support for occasional after‑school and evening activities, including school dances, athletic events, concerts, and plays.
Work collaboratively with school administration and local law enforcement agencies to help maintain a secure campus and respond appropriately to security concerns and emergencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Secure and protect students, faculty and staff of Pennridge School District by being visible on school campuses and available to the administration of the district.
- Understanding of educational administration rules, regulations, School Board policies, the School Law of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and ethics including, but not limited to, those governing confidentiality.
- Make scheduled tours of the buildings and grounds by vehicle and by walking and watching for conditions that could result in injury or loss including, but not limited to student activity, visitor actions, fire, water leakage, spills or sewage backup.
- Report to supervisor or police authorities any unusual or suspicious activities or conditions.
- Report to supervisor any incidence of visitor, student or employee actions, which could result in injury or loss to students and staff, or which may violate school policy or the law.
- Protect students, staff or visitors before potentially disruptive and/or argumentative situations.
- Assist in monitoring students in non‑instructional settings.
- Assure the confidentiality of all matters pertaining to the health of students and staff.
- Direct, assist or participate in the search of a student or school property.
- Attend formal/informal hearings as requested.
- Cooperate with local law enforcement officials.
- Conduct investigations as directed by the Director of Safety and Security as well as District Administration.
- Administer the crisis intervention plan.
- Assist in evacuation drills.
- Report to and conduct duties at District buildings as directed by the Director of Safety and Security as well as District Administration.
- Assume any other duties assigned by the Director of Safety and Security, Building Principal or Assistant Principal.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree ("GED")
- Police department training or security guard experience.
- Prior law enforcement, military, or security experience is preferred.
- Valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
- CPI trained and maintained.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- United States citizen, at least 21 years of age.
PRE‑EMPLOYMENT PAPERWORK: Clearances must be within 12 months and TB must be within 90 days of hire date.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time up to eight (8) hours per day.
- Must be physically able to protect students, staff and visitors from potentially dangerous and/or disruptive behavior.
- Must be able to sit for limited periods of time not to exceed approximately two (2) hours.
- May have to lift and/or hold students or adults involved in adversarial encounters.
