Job Role s and Responsibilities
Lead and manage CAD department operations and workflows
Develop and improve CAD processes and department best practices
Identify operational and performance issues and implement corrective actions
Develop and update project schedules
Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Create construction and shop drawings using two dimensional and three dimensional drafting software
Develop layouts, diagrams, and construction drawings using AutoCAD
Review and interpret ICC and California Building Codes
Assist with code compliance research and documentation
Revise drawings based on project manager and city official comments
Create drawings based on preliminary sketches, concepts, and project information
Prepare and maintain product and catalog drawings
Prepare product assembly and construction drawings
Prepare and update architectural construction documents
Support structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical documentation as required
Work directly with owners, engineers, project managers, and field supervisors
Review and maintain construction documents
Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate CAD staff
Serve as a technical resource for drafters and project managers
Identify performance issues and provide constructive feedback
Ensure permits are properly filed, updated, and processed
Follow up on pending permits and provide regular status reports
Maintain accurate project documentation
Ensure projects meet required guidelines and timelines
Qualifications and CertificationsMinimum 3 years of recent AutoCAD experience
Strong knowledge of construction documents and drafting practices
Experience with construction or shop drawings
Knowledge of permitting processes from submission through approval
Knowledge of ICC and California Building Codes
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, civil plans, blueprints, and sketches
Experience preparing architectural construction documents
Knowledge of structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings is beneficial
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Experience training, mentoring, and evaluating CAD or drafting staff
Strong problem solving and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Bluebeam experience is preferred
Associate degree in a related field is a plus
Ability to work overtime when required
