Plans, directs and coordinates activities of designated projects. Represents Owner/Client in day to day activities required to manage a construction project. Responsible for leadership and management of team.
Essential Functions- Prepare or direct preparation of correspondence between contractor and owner and designer including submittals, requests for information, change order requests and design clarifications
- Negotiates change orders and recommends acceptance by the owner/client
- Analyze construction claims related to additional compensation and time
- Dependent on project staffing, may also be responsible for the same duties as defined in the Inspector and Project Engineer job descriptions
- Position will periodically require travel between project sites; it is the individual's responsibility to provide their own transportation for such purposes
- Oversight of project staff and support service consultants, ensuring that the project is constructed in accordance with the requirements of the contract documents
- Day-to-day supervisory responsibility for support and professional construction management staff
- Project budget preparation and management
- Preparation of monthly contract status reports, budget reviews, amendment requests, and negotiations
- Initiate and maintain liaison with clients, consultants, and contractors to facilitate construction activities
- Ensure adherence to client, company, and project policies, procedures, and standards
- Evaluate contractor’s detailed cost proposals and develop preliminary cost estimates
- Implementation of the Tanner Pacific safety program and assure that direct reporting employees follow safe work practices
- Assist in business development opportunities by identifying opportunities, developing capture plans and proposals, as well as participating in potential project interviews
- Mentor and train mid-level engineers
- Must have graduated with an engineering or architecture degree
- Must have a certificate of registration as a professional engineer or be a licensed architect
- Must have a minimum of 15 years managing the construction of water and wastewater facilities; including projects with a construction value over $50 million of related work experience
- Must be able to speak fluent English as well as write grammatically correct English
- Thorough understanding of contract, plans, specifications and state and local regulations
- This position requires a working knowledge of Office 365
- Knowledge of Pro Core or similar construction management software and Primavera P6 scheduling software is desirable
- Must be able to work both independently with minimal supervision as well as within a team atmosphere in order to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to make intelligent decisions while working under pressure and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays
