Job Summary

The Local Production Manager assists and works under the guidance and direction of the REP Director of Production, REP Production Manager, and REP Associate Production Manager and acts as an integral member of the local REP team. The position is responsible for overseeing and managing all technical and operational aspects of their local event, including cast, crew, staff, and communications with on‑site management and third‑party contractors.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Director of Production and REP Production Managers during pre‑production and take responsibility of day‑to‑day operations during the event in cooperation with the other on‑site management
  • Lead the preproduction work up to the opening of the event, the operation of the event, and the closing of the event
  • Recruit local crew for load‑in, load‑out, and run crew of the local event
  • Source and organize materials and services with local vendors and contractors
  • Maintain prepared budgets and track expenses
  • Create and manage operator schedules
  • Plan logistics and oversee the load‑out under the guidance of the REP staff
  • Supervise and manage local crew and staff including lighting, audio, props, décor, wardrobe, and video departments
  • Serve as liaison between Rail Events Productions and on‑site management
  • Work closely with the production staff during the pre‑production process
  • Act as a customer service manager when needed
  • Ensure staff adherence to safety rules and procedures
  • Promote a positive, enjoyable, and rewarding environment for all staff and passengers
  • Become familiar with all REP policies, procedures, assets, and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Experience in general, production or stage management and managing special events
  • Problem‑solving skills and ability to lead a large team in a live show setting
  • Leadership ability and ability to work alongside the event staff
  • Independence, self‑motivation, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to anticipate, recognize, and solve practical problems and resolve issues
  • Well‑spoken manner in personal communications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to shared leadership and cross‑functional teams, including seasonal employees and interns
  • Practical experience interpreting technical drawings
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as production schedules dictate
  • Support for AHR’s EOE policies
  • Physical capability to lift heavy objects
  • Must be 18 or older
Work Environment
  • Fast‑paced work environment
  • Varying temperatures and weather conditions both indoor and outdoor
  • Frequent long intervals of walking, standing, bending, and lifting
  • Evening and weekend work
  • Standing and walking on uneven or unsteady surfaces aboard a moving train
  • Time spent in and around active railroad yard(s)
