PERRIS, CA 92570 | Salary Range: $20.00 - $26.00 hourly.

SUMMARY

Operates plastic extrusion machines such as cut‑off saws, pullers, pneumatic operated belling equipment, extruders, dies and various pipe testing equipment. Uses various hand tools, micrometers, OD tapes, banders, and wood saws in the manufacturing of rigid PVC pipe.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Committed to providing our customers with quality products and to the continuous improvement of our capability to do so.
  • Maintain operation of multiple lines, including packaging end product for shipment.
  • Learn and maintain all documentation required for production reporting.
  • Prepare packaging materials.
  • Visually inspect product for quality control purposes.
  • Measure and record pipe dimensions as directed.
  • Make adjustments on bellers and printing equipment as needed.
  • Monitor and make adjustments to saw, puller and vacuum tank as needed.
  • Move bundled pipe from work area, weigh and document completed bundles (scrap & good product).
  • Assist in production line start‑up activities and changeovers.
  • Observe all operational and safety procedures.
  • Cut and band scrap as directed.
  • Relieve and assist other operators as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, product defects or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Operate a forklift truck safely and inspect forklift trucks as instructed.
  • Attend required training sessions and wear the required safety equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses and other safety equipment that might be required for certain tasks.
  • Work with a team and with others.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Demonstration of requisite skills, satisfactory attendance, and safety record.

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb stairs, and to climb ladders and work at heights up to 50 feet.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
